Urban Saturday

We had an impromptu gathering of young persons at the Audubon this morning where I showed off my sitting and my bird toy to my old friend Freya and new friend Lewis. Lewis fell out of his highchair while we were there and bonked his head like Dad's friend Mo did at the Omelette Shoppe many years ago, so Dad didn't let me get too carried away on the table.

After filling up on mochas and donuts we loaded up the Cougar and adventured out into the big city ... first stop: the farmer's market (and/cool mirrors) outside the Mill City Museum.

We Cougar'd around downtown a bit and checked out places we had never checked out before ... all of which made Mom's and Dad's bellies rumble . So on the ride home we stopped at a Polish restaurant in our neighborhood for a big delicious lunch and picture.

Back home, we did some yard work before the sun disappeared, the tornado sirens started wailing, and we headed out to the front porch to watch all the excitement (or at least the heavy rain - the sirens stopped before we made it to the basement).

After a few "pleases", the thunder ceased and the rain lightened up and good ol' Mr. Sun shone down on me again.

I need a dentist

Don't let today's smiles fool you ... I followed up a super-smiley "ISWD again" day with a crabby mood tonight. Mom and Dad are attributing my fussiness to the two white things protruding out of my bottom gum (if you look closely, you can see them in the top picture), but the crummy weather didn't help, either. Despite my crankiness, I did learn how to navigate from sitting to tummy-on-the-floor without bonking my noggin! That qualifies as a good day.

ISWD again

We received an early morning phone call: no daycare! So Dad and I spent the chyllie morning swinging ...

... and BOB'ing around the neighborhood. Along the way we ran into our unique squirrels (check out its color).

After a brief snooze we Cougar'd it into campus for Dad's lab meeting (I did my best to not act bored).

We played outside all afternoon in the warmer temps and smiled and giggled the whole time.

Northwoods weekend

Sorry for not putting up any pictures recently, but I've been too busy eating (and traveling) to add a new post!

Last Friday Mom and Dad packed the inside and top of the car for a trip to my Wisconsin grandparents' new vacation spot up north. It was a long drive (made a bit longer because of an unplanned stop to chat with one of Wisconsin's finest) ...

... but we made it just in time to have a midnight key lime pie snack with Grandpa!
On Saturday Dad put together my new Cougar 2 wheels that we hope to use as my primary means of transportation (by hooking it up to the back of Mom's or Dad's bike). We christened the Cougar with a 12 mile ride to get groceries and bug spray (lots of mosquitos!) in town. I talked and smiled and blew bubbles the whole ride there and I slept all the way back.
I spent the rest of Saturday showing off my smile ...... and my eyes.

On Sunday my Aunt Betsy moby'd me up for book time...

... and Grandma later took me for a stroll through the neighborhood.
Dad and I got a game of "patty cake" in on Monday morning before we began the long car ride home.

Goodbye to a friend

It was a beautiful day to smell a few front yard lilacs ...

... and to give Mom a big juicy smooch! Right now my smooches are more like engulfments, but I'll keep practicing.

Tonight we attended a going-away party for our friend Olivia. She worked in Dad's lab but is leaving to learn how to be a doctor for animals. She quickly became my new best friend when she let me taste a grape ...

... and when I played on her lap.

But I wasn't too crazy with her attempt to put my sweatshirt on me!

Things I did on Tuesday night

Mom and Dad discovered I have some new teeth growing. I tried to give you a big smile so you could see them. See?
We had another beautiful day, so I played outside with Mom and Dad for a while tonight. Dad gave me some tickles...
I got to fly up high into the sky...
I explored the backyard from a new vantage point...
And I checked out Mom's zipper.

Rice ... mmmmm

We set out on another art show adventure - this time by foot - after breakfast and stopped by to see our friends at Dabble (above) and buy a few greeting cards.

Dad and I hung out in the backyard early this afternoon and admired my socks ...... and pulled out a few blades ...... and just tried to relax.
Tonight was a big night ... my first solid meal! Mom fed me rice on a spoon and I acted like I was an old pro at this eating game! She couldn't scoop it up fast enough so I constantly lunged forward to get my next bite.

Swing!

Mom and Dad noticed their good friend Craig had listed a toddler swing for sale, so yesterday Mom and I had a mini adventure picking it up. Boy do I love it hanging from our sideyard tree!

After swinging the morning away while Mom and Dad worked outside, Mom and I went for a short bike ride. My friend Rey didn't put up much of a protest when his mom plopped me in his bike trailer for a trip to see an art show in our neighborhood.
This evening we had a lot of friends over for brats and burgers and lots of yummy salads and desserts. Hopefully this was the first of many patio parties over the next few months!
