The week: brief review edition

I've been helping out a lot in the kitchen this week since Mom has been sick ...

... all the while talking a lot about this guy:

Snowyday

My favorite wintertime activity? Dressing myself in my winter accessories. My least favorite wintertime activity? Wearing clothes.

After helping Dad shovel the front steps (with clothes on), he and I settled down for a day of crafts. His project involved generating "sirkowes" and "tees" ... my project involved "gooing" the "sirkowes" and "tees" together.
Step 1: Take off the "goo" top
Step 2: "Goo" the "sirkowe"
Step 3: Re-cap the "goo"Step 4: Select a "tee"
Step 5: "(s)tick" "tee" to "sirkowe"
Step 6: Admire finished productStep 7: Stack and repeat about 25 times

Catching flakes

If you wake up, head outside, drop a ruler on your sidewalk and it looks like this ... it can only mean one thing ...
... SNOWDAY!
We made the best of a snowy situation and put on our shoes to make our way down the river and across to the hardware store ...
... to pick up a new mode of transportation and a Me-sized shovel.
I had a blast sliding all over our neighborhood and being thankful for winter and the yummy snowflakes it brings!

Hunt for a blue spruce

With a big bad storm bearing down on us, we decided to head out in search of our tree before we got buried ...

... but which one to choose?
I gave my approval on a big blue spruce and took my "official snow remover" title seriously ...
... and added the title of "official orderleader" with barks of "fast(er) Daddy, fast(er)" a few moments later.

I'm 2!

If it's my second birthday, I'm up an hour early with screams of "PARTY" ... which means early morning baking in order to have cookies to decorate once my friends arrive.
My preparations continued with a welcoming message out front ...
... and what seemed like the longest wait for the party to start!
But finally start it did, with GMO providing a 'do-concealing crown I wore with pride ...
... as I tore through presents ...
... after choo-choo presents ...
... after wind-up toy presents ...
... after "Emo" and quilt presents ...
... before I finally could eat some cake!

Getting closer

If my bedtime books are correct, Santa likes to eat cookies ...

... so Mom helped me practice for the big day by making a yummy batch this morning.
And if Mom and Dad are correct in saying "Santa can't come until it snows" ... this afternoon's accumulation means that that phrase is about to be expanded upon.

Choo choo to Chicago

After weeks of anticipation and hundreds of "choo choo Katie" refrains, the time arrived to take the train down to Chicago for our post-Turkey Day fun.

We started off Day 1 with a visit from a wish-providing fairy during a fancy lunch ...
... and finished off Day 1 with an early birthday party for me!
Day 2 was filled with shopping - we visited Baby Belle's cousins ... ... discovered a few Cubbie beads ...
... and refueled with some yummy Ghirardelli desserts.

Splendid

Happy Thanksgiving! I spent mine snacking ...

... spicing ...
... sampling ...
... salivating ...
... and sneaking!
